Plan to Progress: Fast Forward One Year

Anxiety. I always felt like it’s what held me back, what kept me from doing things I really wanted to do. And maybe it was partially to blame…but so was I. I was lazy and stagnant. I had no time management skills. I could create a to-do list and stare at it and be perfectly okay just laying in bed instead of attempting a single task on that list. I just didn’t care anymore.

However, those feelings finally changed a year ago after taking a behavioral science class. This class taught me to incorporate concepts into my life both professionally and personally. Some of the concepts I had considered before, maybe I had even tried them before and failed…others concepts I had never even heard of before. That class encouraged me to finally use this blog that had been collecting dust for quite some time. I spent so much time waiting to be inspired, wanting that first post to be perfect, when I should have just stopped procrastinating and made it happen.

This class inspired me though. I finally started blogging again. I started writing every day. There was a video we watched in the final week of class that reminded me that you can make anything a habit if you do it for 30 days straight. Those words really got in my head and I started challenging myself personally and professionally with 30 day challenges. I started with 30 days of writing, then 30 days of exercise, then 30 days of not pushing people away, then 30 days of meditation. I think you get it. These 30 day challenges were all about self-improvement and they worked. I have included this video below in hopes that it will help someone else, the way it helped me.

I’m happier than I’ve been in quite some time. My mental health improved the most in this time. I no longer allow things to pile up until it feels like they are impossible to handle. I’m more present as a mom. I’m more confident and I’m in the happiest and healthiest relationship of my life. I’m writing scripts that I’m excited about and can’t wait to film them. School is going so well and I’m learning new things everyday. I’m excited to graduate but not having graduated yet isn’t keeping me from already creating the films I’ve dreamed of making for years.

I hope all of you have seen the same improvements in your own lives in the past year. If you haven’t, I sincerely suggest watching the video above and to start making your own small life changes beginning with 30 day challenges.
